Important Things To Know When Shipping Products

When you are trying to sell a product, first of all, think about the weight.

And if your main method of sending your product is going to be just mailing it within the US, then you might always want to think about how you can package it up so that it’s under a pound so that you can save on your costs.

When you’re pricing your product, you also have to take all of that shipping cost is taken into consideration, so you have a decent profit.

How To Ensure Settings Are Correct On Shopify

It’s important to have the settings correctly set up so that when you try to fulfill your items in Shopify, customers will be charged correct shipping fee. This also includes saving ‘packaging’ settings correctly in Shopify which will help you expedite fulfillment process as you have saved ‘default’ package you will use the most, whenever you fulfill items.

How To Fulfill Orders Using ShipStation

Once you start seeing the volume of orders come through to your Shopify store, I would recommend using an app called ShipStation.

And this app has saved me lots of time and pain of knowing which ones that I have fulfilled, which one hasn’t been arriving, or which one is still sitting on the shelf.

It makes organizing and fulfillment process a lot easier, and also it’s really easy to fulfill your products within ShipStation.

How To Fulfill Shopify Orders If You Are Amazon FBA Seller

If you are an Amazon seller looking to expand your brand presence and increase sales on Shopify, one of the ways that you can fulfill your orders on Shopify is using Amazon FBA.

If you already have inventory in Amazon FBA warehouses, you can actually get your Shopify orders to be fulfilled by Amazon FBA. And you might think that, “Oh, I really don’t want my customers to be receiving these Amazon boxes.” Now, within Amazon, there is an option for you to choose to send your products over to your customers using just plain boxes.

So if you are worried about that, Amazon does offer that option to you as an Amazon FBA seller. You just have to make sure that when you’re sending inventory to Amazon, there is an option for you to choose to send your inventory as plain boxes.

If you are somebody that just wants to expand more sales on your Shopify platform, that is one option that you can choose.

How To Fulfill Orders Using 3PL Warehouses

If you’re trying to really grow your brand and have more than 400 orders on your Shopify store, I would suggest moving over to 3PL warehouse to start fulfilling your orders.

I have used ShipBob, which I am extremely happy with. They offer customized packaging. They also offer to include those inserts for you. So there’s a lot more that you can do by using a 3PL warehouse, such as ShipBob, and they’re really fast when it comes to fulfilling your orders and also syncing with your Shopify store, which makes it so much easier.

If you have a lot of SKUs within your store, making sure that your inventory syncs with the 3PL warehouse’s inventory system is so incredibly important. I’ve used 3PL warehouses where we had to track everything using spreadsheets, and it was a nightmare.

So you might want to do research on your 3PL warehouses before you move on to this next step, to make sure that they have all the services and the functionalities that you require as a seller, and make your life easier.
